Advocacy
The Arc Pikes Peak Region strives to support individuals with IDD of all ages and their families to ensure a high quality of life.
People with IDD should be able to lead the life they choose, but oftentimes need help accessing their community. Our advocates are here to help resolve these issues while empowering individuals and their families to advocate for themselves and ensuring that their voices are heard.
The Arc PPR provides three types of advocacy services at no charge: Adult, Educational, and Judicial. In addition, we offer dedicated advocacy for individuals served through our Guardianship program, ensuring that their rights are consistently upheld, honored, and respected.
Three Core Areas of Advocacy
Educational Advocacy
Support parents and families in navigating special education processes including IEPs, Section 504 plans, and parental rights. We help families understand educational evaluations and the responsibilities of schools.
Adult Advocacy
Assisting adults with IDD and their families in understanding their resource options, rights, and responsibilities within government-funded systems of care. We help resolve issues while empowering self-advocacy.
Judicial Advocacy
Providing advocacy support within the judicial system, ensuring that the rights of individuals with IDD are upheld and respected throughout legal processes.
